Michael Crichton

Michael Crichton.
He was my favorite author next to Tom Clancy and John Grisham.
But his legacy will continue.
October 23, 1942 – November 4, 2008
Was an American author, producer and director, best known for his work in the science fiction, medical fiction, and thriller genres.
His books have sold over 150 million copies worldwide.
As the creator of the TV series ER, most famously as the author of Jurassic Park, and its sequel The Lost World, which were both adapted into high grossing films and leading to the very successful franchise, in 1994 he became the only creative artist ever to experience chart-topping success in America with a film, a television series and a novel, all at number one at once. Many of his other novels were made into films.

His literary works were usually based on the action genre and heavily feature technology. His novels epitomised the Techno-thriller genre of literature, often exploring technology and failures of human interaction with it, often specifically bio technologically and catastrophe related.

Many of his future history novels have medical or scientific underpinnings, reflecting his medical training and science background. He was the author of The Andromeda Strain, Congo, Disclosure, Rising Sun, Timeline, State of Fear, Prey, and Next, the final book published before his death, and he also had another project set for some time in 2009.

Snow In The Desert

Las Vegas Snow Storm 2008.
It is kind of weird that Las Vegas had a snow this year.
They rarely get one especially a city in the middle of the desert.
It is a sign that there will be more horrible snow storm in New England.

Merry Christmas Everyone

Christmas Eve

Christmas again and it's my 15th year to celebrate christmas in America.

This will be again my 15th christmas that I will be alone on Christmans Eve.

I wonder how other feels on the day when Jesus Christ was born.

The son of god was born in a barn surrounded by 3 kings.

And I surrounded with nothing.

the life of A Filipino in Boston is all about survival.

celebrating the holidays went numb for almost 15 years.

When I dream of snow during christmas can be easily forgotten.

when no wrappers can be open or a kiss from a mistletoe.

When I have something to give but know one else to give it to.

Sometimes

Sometimes it feels impossible to find someone who's right for you — and who thinks you're right for him or her! So when it happens, you're usually so psyched that you don't even mind when your little brother finishes all the ice cream or your English teacher chooses the one day when you didn't do your reading to give you a pop quiz.
It's totally normal to look at the world through rose-colored glasses in the early stages of a relationship. But for some people, those rose-colored glasses turn into blinders that keep them from seeing that a relationship isn't as healthy as it should be.

Sleep Walk Away

When I listen to the Fugees' song Ready Or Not.
I always remember the movie Stephen King's Sleepwalker.
It is a story of a mother and her son.
who are inseparable until in the end.
If you hear the background music on Ready or Not it originated from that movie.
Listen to it carefully and compare the song and the movie.
You will learn something.

Some Do Care

Loneliness is the empty feeling that comes from within
Loneliness is the longing to share your thoughts and feelings with someone who’ll listen
Loneliness is reaching out for open arms to find none there
Loneliness is standing in a crowded room but feeling alone
Loneliness is picking up the phone but having no one to call
Loneliness is knowing there is no one thinking of you
Depression is feeling alone
Depression is knowing this will never change
Depression is knowing your best isn’t good enough
Depression is knowing nothing you do matters
Depression is realizing your best days have gone
Depression is looking forward to the end
Depression is knowing no one really cares that you are looking forward to the end.
I am not trying to kill myself I just saw this poem by L. Pierson
and thought about the people who are lonely and depress.

December Ice Storm 2008

Almost 300,000 homes lost power last week.
It rained and after that a cold wind blew.
It froze the rain and destroyed a lot of houses.
It destroyed a lot of memories in December of 2008.

Cage

I was freed like an eagle to forget about my past.

I was set free because my love was inside a cage.

I was set free because she will never trust me.

I was set free because we were not meant to be.

Set me free because I was born to be free.

Set me free for there no one else but me.

I am free because God set me free.

Dos

Almost two years but I want the relationship to last
for 2 hundred years.
When our souls will be where you want them to be.
Why always ally yourself with doubts but you should also try trust.
Trust can forgive and forget the past and face a happier future.
We can see ourself intertwine to love each other.
Almost 2 years and we should have trusted each other.
But trust is like the almighty the one that you really believe.

To Be A Nurse

A short story that explained a lot.

I wish some would stay and help my fellow Filipinos in the 7,000 islands of the Philippines.

A nurse who really cared a lot for the 20,000 population of Sarangani island.

I see the stress in his face but that stress helped an entire island.

Thank you Mr. Allan Salazar RN/BSN

Terror In India

Terror In Thanksgiving

Pic by Someone
Perhaps Thanksgiving goes normal in America but half way around the world in India.
Terror dominated the land for days to show to the world that terror still exist.

What if that situation happen in America or in the Philippines?

Multiple attacks in different major cities. Terror can only be destroyed through violence, negotiation doesn't exist.
Terror can shut down an entire nation and can destroy an economy.

The people of India should fight back like the Filipino government did with Abu Sayyaf in Mindanao.
Terror cannot rule a land that was built for democracy.
Terror will never succeed.

Value Meal

An experienced not to talk to anyone the entire day.
sat on my desk listening to people around me.
laughing ,gossipping,whispering and munching.
by the end of the day.
I turned off my computer, open my drawer to reach for my car key.
grabbed my jacket and started whistling.
out of the building shivering on a 25 degree weather.
and I thought about calling her but hesitant for she might not answer.
I started the car and paused for a hundred of a seconds to think about my life and hers.
I put the gear on first and I drove.
merging on 95 was nerve wracking
concentrated one thing to get out of merge.
I drove for 30 miles in a dark 4:30 post meridiem.
just thinking if I should grab a value meal at Burger King or Wendy's.
thinking if I can save money to pay off the horrible 10.
parked the car after getting a dinner at BK.
unwrapped the burger and done in 5 minutes.
contemplating again about a relationship and a bill from a card.
what will I do?
I lit up and started puffing.
I open the car window to let the cold air in and smoke out.
flicked the butt and then went home.

Bad Debt

It's been a busy month for me.
I couldn't imagine that I will also be a victim of this pathetic economy.
10 cards all delayed,
10 worst things than can happen for a Filipino in Boston.
I wonder how the upper middle class been doing.
I know that the lower class are the same boat with me.
If the ship sink we are all going to drawn.
If someone can just throw a bail out life preserver.
I will be the first one to hold on to it.
Just to survive this depressive economy.
Damn that $4.00 a gallon gas price last summer
It killed me.
I re balance my check book but the damage was inevitable.
the prices went up and pay checks stayed behind.
It was a personal economic disaster that everyone in America experienced.
But this problem is only temporary and a lesson learned.
Next time pay cash!

Black And White Twins

A real black and white twins.
Twins Ryan and Leo Gerth were born on July 11, 2008 to their black, Ghanian mom Florence and white, German dad Stephan in Lichtenberg, Germany. The press is having a field day because one is white and one is black, but it turns out that, even though the situation is rare, we had no trouble finding tons of examples of such kids living all over Europe mostly. Perhaps where the white genes are still strong enough to bust through the black ones? Lord knows every white person in America has some slave in him. In all seriousness, though, it was funny to read story after story of what the media describes as a “million to one” chance of this happening. Shoot, black and white siblings are an everyday occurrence in Latino families. In fact, blog Racialicious wrote an insightful piece on what a bunch of sensationalism this all is. The story link and full gallery of ebony and ivory are after the jump.

This Nation Has Rise Up

All Men Are Created Equal.
I couldn't stop crying last night. I remembered the Civil Rights movements in the 60's
When Martin Luther King Jr and hundreds of Americans who fought for desegregation in America.
After a long fight for equality, finally the colored people has over come racism.
This is my happiest moment in my life even though I have lots of debt to pay.
I am still happy because I am no longer just a colored American but now can stand up straight and be proud for who I am and where I came from.
Long live the Philippines and Long live Barack Obama!
Mabuhay Ang Pilipinas at Mabuhay si Barack Obama!

President Barack Obama

Finally a colored President of the United States of America.
This country can now breed a new generations of Americans.
An American democracy that will be shared all over the world
from the battle grounds of Afghanistan and Iraq, the war on terror,
and to have everlasting peace in the middle east.
Barack Obama is the beginning of a true American hero.
This man will change the structure of our world.
A man that will represent not only Americans but the entire world.
I am proud to be an American even though I didn't cast my ballot.
But my prediction that an African-American will be the President of United States
is weird.
A prophecy was foretold and became true but what will happen in 2012.

Spider Gates

Spider Gates
Is a small Quaker owned graveyard settled snugly into the woods of Leicester, MA
a bordering town of Worcester.
Properly known as Friends (or Quaker) Cemetery, it's a humble and somewhat scenic little place surrounded by trees, trails, swamps, a brook running nearby connecting to a good sized pond, and filled with aged gravestones dating as far back as the 1700's.
As aged and remote cemeteries often do, Spider Gates gained a haunted reputation over the years. Individual accounts got passed around, and common legends took root.
When the stories began or what sparked them, who can tell? By the time I heard of Spider Gates in the early 90's, Spider Gates sinister reputation was already set in stone.
To listen to most at that time, Spider Gates wasn't just haunted - it was demon possessed.
The whirlwind of stories going around about the place include but aren't limited to; spirit hauntings, cult activity, gang activity, murders, ritual animal sacrifice, various disappearances, demon possessions, portals to hell, gateways to Styx, vanishing and reappearing graves, maddening voices and sounds, and the list goes on.
For one reason or many, Spider Gates transcended the typical small town haunt in infamy.
I've gotten e-mail from people who've been hearing about Spider Gates for years, even outside of New England.Be it the power of suggestion or powers yet unmapped by science, Spider Gates tends to leave an impression on those who visit, and the enthusiastic word travels further and quicker than the normal...

Balete Drive

Balete Drive.
is a street located in New Manila, Quezon City, Philippines.
It is known for apparitions of a white lady and haunted houses which were built during the Spanish Era (1800s).
New Manila has an abundance of balete trees, which, according to legend, is a favorite spot of wandering spirits and other paranormal beings.
Paranormal experts believe that the white lady was raped by Japanese soldiers during the Second World War, which differs from the movie.
Witnesses of the white lady, advise motorists to avoid the street at night, especially if they are alone. If it is necessary to travel the route, they advise that the backseat of the car is fully occupied and that no one should look back or look in any mirrors.
The apparition wears a night gown, has long hair but has no face or one covered with blood.

The Drive

Here's my experience with Balete drive in the 80's.
It was about early morning around 2.
I was driving back home from Club Dredd on Quezon Ave.
I weird decision I made to take the back roads,
instead of just taking Edsa to Mandaluyong City.
I got lost around Balete and I couldn't find my way out from
that spooky place with big trees and old houses.
I keep going back to where I started a gas station on the corner of Balete Drive.
And for the 4th time,
I decided to ask the store keeper that
I got lost without telling him what I have just experience.
He told me the right way to Mandaluyong.

Central Philippine University

Bad Girls and the Bathroom Ghost.
I was a student at the Central Philippine University in 1985. I had two best friends, Marie and Jacky.
We were considered “the bad, but cool, girls.”
It wasn’t easy to join our group, nor were we looking for additional members.
We enjoyed ourselves being “bad” girls – well not the kind that you probably would have in mind. We were still conservative in our unique ways.

Anyway, we always frequent the girl’s restroom for a make over, smoke and the usual gossip. One day, on one of our routine smoking sessions, a girl we never saw before came in and started fixing her hair.
She totally ignored us – that was disrespectful! We were furious at her audacity, for no one - and I mean no one - would dare come in the girls' room when we were in there.

We stared at her hard but she, apparently, wasn’t intimidated at all. So Jackie, being the most assertive of us, nudged her and went with her face close to her cheek. The room became so silent, you could literally hear a pin drop.
It was a tense moment and we were all at the edge of our breaths.
Then suddenly, the stranger turned her head sharply toward Jackie! Jackie screamed, and that led to a chain reaction of screams from Marie and me as well.
Jackie jolted backwards and nearly tripped over my foot.

We stood there in horror! Was she going to hurt us?
Were we doomed for all the things we had done against many girls like her?
These questions went through our minds equally.
We stood there staring at her face which was blue, and her eyes were bloodshot and popped halfway out of the sockets!

It is the most horrendous, most scary thing I have ever seen in my life! I've been scared by sights in the movies but nothing beats this!

After that incident, we stopped using the girls' room as often, and vowed not to bully anyone anymore.

Apparently, others have also seen the “ghost-girl” but only as a reflection in the mirror.

Filipino Ghost Story

The Campus Imp.

I was teacher at Central Philippine University. One night, reluctantly, I worked late to prepare the next day's test paper. It was well known that the campus was haunted and true to the accusation, strange things did take place that night.

There I was, in my class, minding my work when I heard a “thud” sound coming from upstairs. I thought, maybe some unlucky soul had to work late as well.
Feeling glad I wasn’t the only one, I felt save and comfortable, I went on working.
Minutes of serenity passed, then, I heard someone running on the floor above.
I wasn't scared, but was curious to see who was this comrade of mine. So, I got out of my class and made my way upstairs. I saw that the lights were switched on.
I thought that was a good sign - it showed that someone was indeed there and that I wasn’t imagining the noise. I looked through the window but saw no one. I called, “hello, hello, anyone there?” but there was no reply.
I tried to open the doors but they were locked. I looked a bit more and then gave up, thinking the person could have gone away for a bite or something.
I went back downstairs to my work.

Later, about half an hour or so, I heard a laughter. It was a child like, high pitched, laughter! Then, I began to get spooked; lots of things went through my mind. But I wasn't going to conclude anything until I saw with my own eyes what it was.
I dumped all my things in my bag, carried it with me and went upstairs again.

What I saw, almost gave me a heart attack! I saw a little hairy thing running across the classroom then disappeared in thin air! I swear it was real!
I only saw it’s hairy back. It was around 3 to 4 ft in height. At first, I thought it was a chimpanzee but it was upright, ran on two legs like a little child and it didn’t have long “chimp” arms.

The part that got me to run like hell was its sudden vanishing! It, literally, disappeared right before my eyes!

He Is Supernatural

Carlos Augusto Santana Alves (born July 20, 1947 in Autlán de Navarro, Mexico ) is a Grammy Award-winning Mexican rock musician and guitarist. He became famous in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his band, Santana, which created a highly successful blend of rock, blues, salsa, and jazz fusion. The band's sound featured his melodic, blues-based guitar lines set against Latin percussion such as timbales and congas. Santana continued to work in these forms over the following decades. He experienced a sudden resurgence of popularity and critical acclaim in the late 1990s. Rolling Stone also named Santana number 15 on their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time in 2003.

Supernatural

This picture was taken by Tony O'Rahilly in 1995, as Wem Town Hall, Shropshire, England, burned down. The girl in the doorway was not seen at the time the photo was taken. When examined by photographic expert Dr. Vernon Harrison, former president of the Royal Photographic Society the photo was deemed genuine, in that it was not tampered with. In 1977 there was another fire in this place, started accidentally by a young girl by the name of Jane Churm. Is this her ghost

Do you believe in Supernatural?

Did you ever experience when you step inside a house,
you have a feeling that you've been watch?

Our Brown Eyes

My cousin will kill me if he sees his pic on my blog but
I'm glad he doesn't know that I have a Blog (he's wearing a dark shirt).
My step father was one of the first Overseas Filipino Contract Workers (OFCW),
or OCW in the Philippines.
A famous tone in every household in the Philippines during the 70's.
Martial Law was still alive but democracy was still being practice in the Philippines.
1/2 of the population were jobless and there were no taxes to collect.
But the Marcos regime finally decided it is time to act before the economy collapse but to twist the twisted economy.
He decided to export Filipinos all over the world like a produce sold by bulk and the more they ordered the more almighty dollars are being sent back to the Philippines.
But almost 1/2 of the reserve dollars are being kept overseas banks by the Marcos cronies but that was history.
The unsung heroes of the Philippines can now sing without having to sweat on stage and to be paid with honors and respect.
They contributed to the stabilization of the Philippine economy,
The remittances that they sent 24/7/365 are the back bone of the Filipino economy.
Almost $12.7 Billion remittances from last year and the fifth recipient of foreign remittances in the world.
But with the United States in recession will this democratic/Catholic nation
of Southeast Asia survived the greed of Wall Street.
